Pediatric Physical Therapist

Reports To:

Director of Community Pediatrics

Job Summary:                    

Provides patient care focusing on physical injuries and illnesses, loss of motor function, pain management and joint disorders.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Provides and manages direct patient care including assessments, evaluation, management and treatment for physical injuries and illnesses, loss of motor function, pain management, and joint disorders.
  • Consults with providers regarding patients’ diagnosis, prognosis, and progress. 
  • Develops and implements functional, measurable goals to address improvement of motor function and range of movement.
  • Reassesses patient progress on goals and need for continued services on a regular basis.
  • Assists in the identification, assessment, and intervention of patients who have been referred to and/or in need of physical therapy or diagnosed with physical injuries and illnesses.
  • Ensures patients and families receive accurate explanations of assessments, goals and progress.
  • Develops services that address the functional needs of the patient to improve their ability to perform tasks in home, school, work, and community settings.
  • Instructs patient and/or family members in the proper and safe usage of assistive technology.
  • Assures continuation of therapeutic plan by designing home exercise programs, recommending and/or providing assistive equipment, and recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  • Develops and maintains patient progress reports and documentation.
  • Provides consultation and timely reports of patient evaluation, reassessments, and disposition to providers.
  • Participates in specified physical therapy promotion and education programs as applicable.
  • Attends and participates in required staff meetings.
  • Participates in documentation reviews

Required Education, Experience, Certificates & Licenses:

  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy. Doctor of Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Passed a national examination in physical therapy.
  • Licensed in the State of Arizona as a Physical Therapist.
  • Board Certification in specified profession preferred.
  • Three or more years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the necessary skills and sensitivity.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Participates in continuing medical education programs to maintain professional competence and skills.

Required Language Skills:

  • Ability to comprehend and compose instructions, correspondence and communications in English in both oral and written format.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients, internal providers and staff and other agency staff working in cooperation with the organization.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
