Job Purpose:                     

Assists Patients, Dental Supervisor, and Health Center Manager-Dental in the performance of a broad range of administrative duties.

Job Classification:   

Full-Time/Non-exempt

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing excellent customer service with the knowledge and understanding of job duties.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide excellent customer service by mail, telephone and in person.
  • Operate clinic switchboard.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments.
  • Provide and facilitate the completion of necessary patient forms.
  • Verify Dental coverage, eligibility.
  • Inform patients of clinic balances and taking payments over the counter.
  • Outgoing and self-motivated individual with pleasant personality.
  • Proactively greet, interact, and assist staff in a professional manner to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious work environment.
  • Ability to comprehend and understand insurance co-pays so as to collect the correct amount from the patient
  • Ability to comprehend and understand Dental terminology and tooth numbers to assure accuracy.
  • Preparation of Dental billing, in printing, checking insurances, checking Sliding Fee Scale Information
  • Checking in patients
  • Preparing estimates, as needed.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least six months of experience in a medical or dental setting providing office support preferred.
  • Any combination of experience that provides the necessary combination of skills and sensitivity to work in a community health center.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write correspondence.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, other employees of the organization and other agencies and providers working in cooperation with the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all measure, using whole numbers, common fraction, and decimals.
  • Compute Annual salary/wage of patient, based on information provided for CCHCI’s Sliding Fee Scale program and for One-E-App for AHCCCS applications.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of prepaid health plans and computer literacy preferred.
