Facility Maintenance Supervisor

Job Purpose:           

Under the direction of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor or other appropriate administrative staff, is responsible for doing general maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. This individual is also responsible for maintaining electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Installs, inspects, repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all clinic locations.
  • Inspects, operates and maintains the heating, cooling and ventilation systems in all health department locations.
  • Does general repairs such as painting, patching walls, security hardware, hanging shelves and landscaping.
  • Does minor renovations of existing facilities.
  • Assists with the coordination and communicates to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor of major contract work on the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all clinic locations.
  • Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
  • Gather and empty trash.
  • Clean-up after every project to ensure sanitary conditions are met for patients.
  • Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
  • Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.

Required Education, Experience, Certificates & Licenses:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years’ experience in general maintenance or other maintenance responsibilities that would include the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions or failures. Formal education or training in related field can be substituted on a year-for year basis.
  • Must be 21 years of age and have a current AZ driver's license to qualify under company insurance.
